Role
The selected candidates are required to sponsor suitable persons to be appointed as Life Insurance Agents, train them properly, and help the recruited agents to sell life insurance to a maximum number of persons. They will also be required to give prompt after-sales service to policyholders. The recruitment of Apprentice Development Officers is for Urban as well as Rural Areas and the selected candidates will have to work in these areas. However, some of the selected candidates are also posted in the jurisdiction of nearby Divisional Office/s within the jurisdiction of the Zone.

LIC ADO Eligibility 2026
Age Relaxation
The minimum age limit to apply for the post of LIC ADO 2026 is 21 and the maximum age is 30 years as specified by the LIC. But there is an age relaxation for the candidates belonging to a certain category. For the general category, candidates below 21 and above 30 years of age are not allowed.

Experience:
No experience is required for categories other than employee and agent’s categories. However, in other categories, preference would be given to candidates who have at least 2 years’ experience in life insurance industry.

Selection Procedure
Selection for the post of ADO is made on the basis of online tests (preliminary + mains) followed by an Interview of candidates who qualify in the online tests and subsequent pre-recruitment medical examination.
Phase-I: Preliminary Examination Pattern
Preliminary Examination: Preliminary Examination consisting of an objective test will be conducted online. The test will have three sections (with separate timings for each section) as follows:

The Preliminary examination will be the first stage of the selection process and is qualifying in nature. It is conducted in Computer Based Test mode.

Questions from three subjects, namely i.e., English language, Reasoning Ability, and Quantitative aptitude will be asked at this stage.

All the subjects of the preliminary examination will account for 100 marks with sectional timing of 20 minutes for each subject.

As per the marking scheme, 1 mark will be provided for every correct answer while there will be a deduction of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer marked by the candidate.

English will be of qualifying in nature and its marks will not be considered for the final selection.
Phase-II: Mains Examination Pattern

The Mains examination will be the second stage of the selection process and will be conducted after the Prelims exam

The LIC ADO is divided into 3 sections

The total duration of the exam is 2 hours

The LIC ADO Mains exam will consist of objective-type tests for 160 marks.
Phase-III: Interview
Marks obtained in the Main Examination only will be considered for shortlisting for interview and marks obtained in Main Examination + marks obtained in the Interview will be considered for the final merit listing of candidates.
The maximum marks for the interview are 40.
There will be no contingency/waiting list for candidates not declared successful in the main examination.
Probation:
An Apprentice Development Officer, who successfully completes the apprenticeship and, in the opinion of the Recruiting Authority may be appointed as a Development Officer and placed on probation. The period of probation shall be for one year which may be extended up to two years.
