The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is soon going to release the notification for RBI Assistant 2024 and invite applications from eligible Indian candidates for the posts of ‘Assistant’ in various Offices of the Reserve Bank of India. Selection for the post will be through a country-wide competitive examination in two phases i.e. Preliminary and Main examination followed by a Language Proficiency Test (LPT).

RBI Assistant Job Profile:
Before getting selected as an Assistant at the Reserve Bank of India, it is important to know the role of an Assistant in this organization. Following are some of the key responsibilities of an RBI Assistant:

The Assistants at RBI have to maintain files, collect receipts, balance tally, maintain the ledger, etc.

RBI Assistants also have to verify the documents and bank details.

The RBI Assistant aids in the Issuance and Circulation of currency

They are also expected to reply to all the emails received and maintain a log of the same.

The Assistants at RBI are expected to make sure of financial stability.
Eligibility Criteria:
Before applying for the RBI Assistant examination, you need to ensure that you fulfill all the eligibility conditions including the age limit, education qualification, nationality, etc. as admission at all stages of the examination will be purely provisional, subject to their satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. If on verification, at any time before or after the written examination, it is found that you do not fulfill any of the eligibility conditions, your candidature for the examination will be cancelled.
Therefore, to avoid inconvenience at any stage of the examination, we are going to familiarize you with the
eligibility criteria for RBI Assistant Examination in detail.
Education Qualification:
Before applying for the examination, you should go through the essential education qualification required for
RBI Assistant Examination. Any graduate from any disciple can apply for the examination provided they fulfill the following conditions:
I. At least a
Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks (pass class for SC/ST/PwBD candidates) in the aggregate and the knowledge of word processing on PC.
II. A candidate belonging to the Ex-servicemen category (except dependents of ex-servicemen) should either be a graduate from a recognized University or should have passed the matriculation or its equivalent examination of the Armed Forces and rendered at least 15 years of defence service.
III. Candidates applying for a post in a particular recruiting Office should be proficient in the language (i.e. know to read, write, speak and understand the language) of the state/ any of the states falling under the recruiting Office.
Age Relaxation:
As per the previous year's notification, candidates aged between 20 and 28 years are only eligible to apply for the RBI Assistant Exam.
The relaxation in the upper age limit for the different categories is given below:

RBI Assistant 2024 Application Fees
As per the previous year’s notification, candidates will have to pay the Examination fees/ Intimation Charges (Non- Refundable) as given in the following table. Staff candidates are exempted from payment of examination fees and intimation charges. Bank Transaction charges for Online Payment of examination fees/intimation charges will have to be borne by the candidate.

Examination Pattern
Selection for the post of Assistant in RBI would be made on the basis of online tests (preliminary + mains) followed by a Language Proficiency Test (LPT) of candidates who qualify in the online tests. LPT is qualifying in nature and the final selection will be based only on performance in the Main online examination.
The Objective tests of RBI Assistant (Preliminary and Main examination) except for the Test of English Language will be available bilingually, i.e. English and Hindi. A candidate will have to qualify in Preliminary Examination for appearing in Main Examination. There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests (Preliminary and Main examination). 1/4th marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
The selection process of Assistants in the Reserve Bank of India contains the following stages.
Phase-I: Prelims Examination
Phase-II: Mains Examination
Phase-III: Language Proficiency Test
Candidates who qualify for all these selection processes will be called for Document Verification and after which the final merit list (based on main examination scores) will be prepared.
Phase-I: RBI Assistant Preliminary Examination Pattern
Preliminary Examination: Preliminary Examination consisting of an objective test will be conducted online. The test will have three sections (with separate timings for each section) as follows:

The Preliminary examination will be the first stage of the selection process and is qualifying in nature. It is conducted in Computer Based Test mode.

Candidates will have to pass each of the objective tests of the online examinations.

Questions from three subjects, namely i.e., English language, Reasoning Ability, and Quantitative aptitude will be asked at this stage.
-
All the subjects of the preliminary examination will account for 100 marks with sectional timing of 20 minutes for each subject.

As per the marking scheme, 1 mark will be provided for every correct answer while there will be a deduction of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer marked by the candidate.

Phase-II: RBI Assistant Mains Examination Pattern
The Mains examination will be the second stage of the selection process and the marks obtained at this stage will be considered to calculate the final merit.
The final selection will be based only on performance in the Main online examination so candidates will have to perform exceptionally well to appear in the final merit list.
Questions from five subjects, namely i.e., English language, Reasoning, Numerical ability, General Awareness, and Computer Knowledge will be asked at this stage.
Reasoning, English, and Numerical Ability section of the RBI Assistant mains examination will account for 120 marks with sectional timing of 30 minutes for each subject. However, the General Awareness section will account for 40 marks with a sectional timing of 25 minutes, and the computer knowledge section will account for 40 marks with a sectional timing of 20 minutes.
As per the marking scheme, 1 mark will be provided for every correct answer while there will be a deduction of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer marked by the candidate.

Phase III: Language Proficiency Test (LPT)
The candidates provisionally shortlisted from the main online examination will have to undergo a language proficiency test (LPT). Only such number of candidates will be called for the Language Proficiency Test who stand sufficiently high in merit based on the aggregate marks of the Main online examination. Such merit will be decided by the Bank in relation to the number of notified vacancies to be filled in
The language proficiency test will be conducted in the Official / Local Language of the State concerned as detailed below.
Candidates not proficient in the Official / Local Language shall be disqualified. The Office wise local language/s is/are as follows:
