ABOUT EXAM

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) are expected to release the RRB NTPC 2026 Notification to fill a large number of vacancies under the Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC). As per previous trends, the recruitment is likely to include both Graduate-level and Undergraduate-level posts across various departments of the Indian Railways. The exact number of vacancies and category-wise distribution will be confirmed only after the official notification is released.

RRB NTPC Exam Pattern 2026: RRB NTPC Selection Process, The recruitment process shall involve 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT), 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT), Typing Skill Test/Computer Based Aptitude Test (as applicable) and Document Verification/Medical Examination. Selection is made strictly as per merit, on the basis of above mentioned recruitment stages.
 
The recruitment process will involve the following stages of examination:
  • 1st Stage Computer Based Test (CBT)
  • 2nd Stage Computer Based Test (CBT)
  • Typing Skill Test/Computer Based Aptitude Test (as applicable)
  • Document Verification/Medical Examination
 

EXAM PATTERN

Recruitment Process and Exam Pattern:

The recruitment process is of three tiers. First a Computer based test (CBT) will be taken followed by Physical Efficiency test (PET), then Document Verification in the last.

Computer Based Test (CBT):

Total Duration: 90 minutes
Total number of Questions: 100

Subject Duration Syllabus
Mathematics 90 minutes Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work; Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern etc.
General Intelligence and Reasoning Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical Reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions etc.
General Awareness Current Affairs in Science & Technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics and any other subjects of importance.
 
Negative Marking:
There shall be negative marking for incorrect answers which means marks equivalent to the 1/3rd of the marks allotted for each question shall be deducted for each wrong answer.

Minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories:

UR 40%
OBC 30%
SC/ST 30%
 
 
These percentage of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2% for PWD candidates in case of shortage of PWD candidates against vacancies reserved for them.

RRB NTPC 2026: Application Fee Details

Out of this fee of Rs 500 an amount of Rs 400 shall be refunded duly deducting bank charges, on appearing in 1st Stage CBT.
2.  For SC/ST/PWD/Women/Ex-Sm/Transgender/Minorities/Economically Backward
Rs. 250/-
 
This fee of Rs 250 shall be refunded duly deducting bank charges as applicable on appearing in 1st Stage CBT
 

Age Limit:


The minimum age of the candidates must be 18 years and the maximum age limit is 33 years, to be eligible for the upcoming RRB NTPC 2026 Exam.
