What is NTA and what it does?

 
The National Testing Agency (NTA) is established by Ministry of Education, as an independent/ autonomous, self-reliant and self-sustained testing organization.
 

What is CUET (UG)-2023?

 
National Testing Agency is going to conduct the Undergraduate entrance tests for all the Central Universities (CUs) for the academic session 2023-2023.
 
This exam is called Common University Entrance Test CUET (UG)- 2023 and CUET will provide a single window opportunity to students to seek admission in any of the Central Universities (CUs) across the country with just single Application Form. It is computer Based Online Exam. No offline exam will take place.
 
CUET actually is the result of National Education Policy which states that higher education admission process should be based on Common Entrance Exam.
 

What was the need of the CUET?

 
There was the perception out there that different boards have different questions patterns and marking system so students during admission in Universities don’t have level play field.
 
In recent times a tendency was seen where students were taking extreme steps due to poor marks in boards exams. CUET will hunt down all these nuisances.
 
Students not need to write long answers for evaluation. Just MCQs type questions where checking will be done by non-biased technology.
 
Students don’t need to study something else for the CUET; the whole exam is based on till 12th class syllabus. In fact CUET will strength the preparation of board exams.
 

How different background students would get the level play?

 
NTA has taken the great care of all the background students be it CBSE, NIOS, ICSE or state boards.
 
Some level play field:-
 
  • Exam will be held in 13 languages plus 20 others languages to be chosen from.
  • Students can choose any 40 questions out of 50 and 60 questions out of 75 tested.
  • Mock Tests will also be provided.
  • In Reading Comprehension questions no need not to recall or memorize anything.
  • 10th and 12th classes marks will not be counted in CUET-2023.

Note: Students don’t need to give all sections tests; they can choose which section to take according to the need of University eligibility criteria. For Example if Delhi University asks for General Test Score then only you need to take that test otherwise no need.

A Candidate can choose a maximum of any 3 languages from Section IA and Section IB taken together. However, the third language chosen needs to be in lieu of 6th domain specific Subject chosen by the candidate - as applicable, so the maximum number of tests to be taken remains 9 only i.e. 2 Languages+6 Domain Specific Subjects+1 General Test OR 3 Languages+5 Domain Specific Subjects+1 General Test

* Languages (13): Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Odiya, Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi, English, Hindi and Urdu.
 
** Languages (20): French, Spanish, German, Nepali, Persian, Italian, Arabic, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Konkani, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Manipuri, Santhali, Sanskrit, Tibetan, Japanese, Russian, Chinese.

How students can opt Sanskrit both as language and domain specific subject?

 
For Shastri course (UG) in Sanskrit, a candidate may choose Sanskrit as the Domain Subject from Section II. For choosing Sanskrit as Language a candidate may choose Sanskrit from Section IB (testing Reading Comprehension)
 

How will performing Arts be tested?

 
Performing arts Test will have two Parts:
 
·         Part A which is compulsory will contain General questions.
 
·         Part B will have Specific Questions related to the Dance/ Music Form opted by the Candidate as per desired University. No. of questions will remain the same combining both Part.

Can students of previous years of class XII take admission in the current year?

 
If any University permits then such students would also be eligible to appear in CUET (UG) – 2023.
 

If more than one student gets the same marks in CUET?

 
Information Bulletin has manner and rules for that.
 

Will Universities have say in CUET exam process?

 
The Counselling process is to be conducted by the Universities only and on merit basis (marks in CUET) can select the students and can also release the waiting list.
 
For getting admission in Central Universities CUET(UG)-2023 Score is compulsory. Admission in affiliated colleges will also be based on CUET Score only
 

What all documents does a student need to upload while filling the online form?

 
Students need to upload:
 
  • Scanned images of photograph and signature
  • PwD, Category, BPL, Class X/XII Equivalence Certificate, wherever applicable
  • The documents / certificates etc., shall be verified directly at the time of admission by the University
 
     Note:- Before final submission of application student can change the information provided by him/her. Later on candidate may make necessary corrections only when NTA will open the correction window. After that no correction will be entertained. There is no charges on correction.
 

What is the fee of the exam and how to pay?

 
Fee can be paid using SBI, Canara Bank, ICICI Bank and Paytm payment gateways through Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking/UPI/ Wallet. Take the screen shot of the online payment or note down the transaction details.
 
In case the Confirmation Page is not generated after payment of fee, the transaction will stand cancelled and the amount will be refunded into your account. And applicant has to pay again but before that check the bank account.

Is Language compulsory?

 
It will depend over the particular University’s required eligibility criteria. In case a particular University for its programme requires English or any other Language the candidate must comply with that. Different Universities may have different language requirements for being eligible for the admission.
 

There is no Elective English in Section II of CUET; will this not put the CBSE students who have studied Elective English in Class XII to a disadvantage?

 
CUET is going to provide level play to all students irrespective to Boards. So English as a subject will be tested not a particular course.
 

How many universities are going to take admission through CUET 2023?

 
CUET (UG) - 2023 is mandatory for all Union Grant Commission (UGC) funded Central Universities for admission to their Universities for the Academic Session 2023-2023. Click here for list of Universities.
 

What is the Policy of Universities regarding Reservation, Relaxation, Quota, and Qualification etc. for CUET?

 
The existing policies regarding quotas, reservations, subject combinations, preferences etc. shall continue.
 

Will there be separate rank lists (Programme wise) for each university or common counselling for all universities?

 
No, NTA will provide only Score Card. Universities may conduct their individual counselling on basis of the scores of CUET (UG)-2023 provided by NTA.
 

Can result awaited student apply for CUET (UG) 2023?

 
Yes, they can but they have to provide the proof/undertaking during the final admission. And one more thing mere taking the CUET or securing the passing marks does mean student will get the admission in any university.
 
He/she fulfils the Programme wise eligibility conditions of the University
 

How to select the Universities while filling the form?

 
While filling the form students can choose the drop list the universities of their choices. But first they should clarify the exact criteria/eligibility of the respective universities. Eligibility and other things will be mentioned on the websites of the universities.
 
There is no capping on selecting the number of Universities. There is also no preference for the universities which a student can fill in form. Students can compare or check the track record of Universities on their websites. And decide which University to opt which to leave.
 

What is the maximum and minimum age to get   admission?

 
No there is no Age limit, Universities can admit as per their criteria.
 

Candidate Name, Mother's Name and Father's has to be based on Class X or XII Certificate?

 
Name of Candidate, Father's name and Mother's name to be filled in as per Class /matric certificate. In case of a single parent, candidate has the option to choose just one.
 

Is there a skill test also after I pass this test?

 
Yes, for skill based programmes like Dance/ Music/ Theatre Universities may conduct the skill test.
 

What will be the process for NRI/Foreign Students, who wish to take admission in Universities of India?

 
These students need to visit the websites of concerned University and plan, prepare accordingly. As the eligibility criteria for admission may be unique for every University.
 

Is there a need to send the Confirmation Page of Application Form to NTA?

 
No. Just keep the following details:-
 
  • Copy of the Confirmation Page of Online Application Form (Download, save and Print at least 3 copies)
  • Proof of fee paid (Download, save and Print at least 3 copies)
  • Photographs (same as uploaded on the Online Application Form)
 

Payment done but no confirmation page generated, what to do?

 
What for 24 hours and check your bank/digital wallet balance. You will get the payment back in your bank/digital wallet. Make the payment again. This is actually the connectivity issue.
 
In case you don’t get the money back raise your concern in Query Redressal System or send a mail at cuet-ug@nta.ac.in giving details of mobile number, application number, payment reference number and proof of payment.
 
Also keep in mind double payment of single application will be refunded within 24 hours.
 

When I will get the Admit Card?

 
It is advisable to the students keep checking the official website for updates https://cuet.samarth.ac.in/.
 
After downloading Admit Card kindly check it thoroughly, Roll No. Name, Subject Group, Date of Birth, Gender, Examination Centre Name, City, and Category etc.
 
In case of any problem related to Admit Card, you may contact the NTA Helpdesk No. 011-40759000 or 011-6922 7700 between 09:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. or write to us at cuet-ug@nta.ac.in.
 
Note:- Test Centre will be mentioned in the Admit Card.
 

Can I change my test city after receiving Admit Card?

 
During Application Form a student can select up to four cities, efforts will be made to allot selected centres. However, NTA reserves the right to change the city.
 

What is the reporting time at the test centre?

 
Reporting time starts 2 hours prior to the actual examination time. But students should avoid the crowding during verification of the admit cards, registration, frisking, etc.
 

What documents are needed during Examination?

 
Admit Card along with Undertaking downloaded from the NTA website (a clear printout on A4 size paper)
 
Any one of the original and valid Photo Identification Proof issued by the government – PAN card/Driving License/Voter ID/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card (With photograph)/ EAadhaar/ Ration Card./ Aadhaar Enrolment No. with Photo. All other ID/Photocopies of IDs even if attested/scanned photo of IDs in mobile phone will NOT be considered as valid ID Proof.
 
PwD certificate issued by the Competent Authority, if claiming relaxation under PwD category.
 
The scribe must also carry an Undertaking regarding educational qualification, etc, passport size photograph, valid government identity proof and self-declaration regarding COVID-19 (as per above format).
 
Student also need to carry:
 
  • One sanitizer bottle (small)
  • Mask and/or gloves
  • Drinking water in a transparent bottle
  • A simple transparent pen
 
Note: Candidate will not be allowed to take personal items such as mobile phones, digital/analogue watches, food items, study material, lockets, bags, electronic gadgets or any other prohibited items into the testing room. You are advised not to bring these to the test centre
 
The name on the photo identification must match with the name as shown on the Admit Card.
 
If the name has been changed due to events such as marriage, candidate must show the relevant document like Marriage Certificate / Divorce / Decree / Legal Name Change Document at the time of examination.
 

What are the Do’s and Don’ts during the examination hall?

 
  • Blank sheets for doing rough work/calculations will be provided to the candidates at the exam centre.
  • Candidates must drop these rough sheets along with Admit card and Undertaking in the designated box, as instructed by the invigilator on duty.
  • Detailed guidelines on the Procedure for appearing in computer based tests are given in the Information Bulletin (www.nta.ac.in)
  • A pre-assigned workstation of the test centre allocated to him/her mentioned in the Admit Card.
  • Candidates will have the option to navigate between the questions They may change even answer options, any-time before they enter submit button.
  • Each candidate has to attempt subject as per the choice in the Application Form.
  • Please ensure that name of the subject on the screen is the same as per your Admit Card. In case of any gap please inform Invigilators immediately.
  • No candidate will be allowed to appear at the examination centre/date/timings other than that allotted to them on their Admit card.
  • You won’t be able to cancel the Exam.
  • There is no provision for refund of fees if student does not take the exam.
  • Every candidate would also be offered a mask. They would be provided material for hand sanitization too.
  • Candidates are advised to check the timer given on the screen regularly and allocate their time carefully.
  • Candidates will not be allowed to leave before the completion of exam.
  • In case of any technical issue inform the invigilator and he will sort out the issue with proper process.
  • A copy of the Confirmation Page and Final Score Card will be sent to the registered e-mail address of the candidates
 

Authentication of Mobile Number and e-mail Address?

 
When Candidates register, they have to enter the OTP received at their registered Mobile Number, and before submitting the fees, they have to enter the OTP received at their registered e-mail address.
 
In the case of foreign candidates, the mobile OTP is also being sent on the verified email id. Candidates are requested to ensure the entered mobile number and email IDs are correct.
 

How and where a student will find the examination centres?

 
The Choice of exam cities will be displayed to the candidates based on the permanent and Present address filled in the Online Application Form.
