Eligibility Criteria for Bank Exams

The basic eligibility criteria for applying for the Upcoming Bank exams are mentioned in the space below:

Nationality

The candidate should be a citizen of India and should be having valid id proof i.e. Pan Card/Adhaar Card/Voter Card to prove the same.

Age Limit

The basic age limit to qualify for the Updates Bank Exams is 21 years to 30 years for the candidates who belong to the unreserved candidates. However, the candidates who are from the reserved category i.e. SC/ST/OBC/PWD will be eligible to apply for age relaxations.

Educational Qualification

The candidates are required to possess a degree in Graduation in any stream from a recognized University.

Banking Exam Pattern

The banks generate employment for three profiles i.e. PO(Probationary Officer), Clerk(Single Window Operator), SO(Specialist Officer). The candidates can check the exam pattern for all the three profiles mentioned in the space below:

Bank Clerk Exam Pattern

The exam pattern of the Clerk staff will be held in three phases i.e. Preliminary exam, Mains Exam, and Document Verification. The candidates can check out the details of the exam pattern in the space below:

Phase 1: Preliminary Exam 

The first phase of the Bank Clerk Selection Process is the Preliminary examination. This is a computer-based test and the major highlights of the examination can be checked in the space below:

• The examination will be held online and three will be questions from only three subjects.

• Each section will have a different number of questions i.e. 30 questions from English Language and 35 questions each from Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Aptitude.

• The maximum number of questions asked in the exam will be equal to 100.

• As per the marking scheme, the candidates will get 1 mark for each correct answer while there will be a deduction of 0.25 marks for incorrect markings.

• The preliminary exam will be qualifying in nature and the candidates will get 20 minutes to complete a section.

Phase 2: Mains Exam

The candidates who qualify in the preliminary examination will be called to appear for the Mains examination. 

• The Mains exam will be also held online and the candidates will be required to appear at the exam center to appear for the test. held online. 

• The candidates will be required to appear for a total of subjects i.e. English Language, Reasoning Ability, General Awareness, and Quantitative Aptitude. 

• The candidates will get 1 mark for each correct answer while there will be a deduction of 1/4th of the total marks. 

• The total duration allotted to complete the Mains test will be 160 minutes and there will separate sectional timing to complete each test.

Phase 3: Document Verification

Document Verification is the last stage of the Bank Clerk examination and in this stage, the panel appointed by the bank cross verifies the documents submitted by the candidate. This phase is also qualifying in nature and the candidates are only checked if their documents are original and authentic.

Bank PO Exam Pattern 

Bank PO or Probationary Officer is another post that is hired by the banks. The selection process of this exam also comprises of three stages i.e. Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam, and Interview round. The candidates have to qualify each round and then they will get selected as a PO in a PSB. The preliminary exam is qualifying in nature while the final merit list is drawn on the combined marks of the Mains exam and Interview in the 80:20 ratio respectively.

Phase 1: Preliminary Exam 

Similar to the clerk exam, the first phase of the PO is also a preliminary test that is qualifying in nature.

• The PO Prelims examination is also conducted as an online test and the candidates have to score marks more than the cut-off marks. 

• It has three subjects i.e. English Language having 30 questions and Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Aptitude accounting for 35 questions each.

• As per the marking scheme, the candidates get 1 mark for each correct answer marked while there is a negative marking of 1/4th of total marks i.e. 0.25 marks.

• The total duration to complete the test is equal to 60 minutes that is further divided equally into three sections of 20 minutes each.

Phase 2: Mains Exam

Objective Paper

• The IBPS PO Mains exam is also an online-based test and is conducted only for those candidates who qualify for the preliminary exam successfully. 

• As of now, there will be four sections in the main exams as well i.e. English Language, Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude, General / Finance Awareness, and Data Interpretation and Analysis

• The bank has introduced sectional timing for each section and the overall time to complete the same will be 180 minutes. 

• A negative mark for the wrong answer marked by the candidate will be equal to 1/4th of the marks assigned to any question.

Descriptive Paper

The candidates will be required to appear for the descriptive test immediately after the objective test is over. In this round, the candidates will be required to type the answers on a keyboard. There will be two questions based on Essays and Letter writing one from each. The candidates will be required to complete a descriptive paper in 30 minutes for 25 marks.

Phase 3: Interview

The Interview is the last phase of the selection process of a PO and it is conducted for 100 marks. The candidates will be required to complete the same with qualifying marks i.e. 40% for the General candidates while it is 35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWBD candidates. The final merit list will be drawn by combining the marks of Mains and Interview round in the ratio of 80:20 respectively.
